Fourfold privacy policy
Last updated 8 October 2026
Fourfold is a task list published by Hicksmore & Harrison (“we”). This page says, in plain words, what the app keeps, what it sends and to whom. Questions, or a request about your data: admin@hicksmoreandharrison.com.
The short version
- Your tasks live on your phone. Fourfold sends nothing anywhere unless you turn on Sync, share a task, or use Premium (buying it, or restoring a purchase).
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking. We never sell your data or share it with anyone for their own use.
- You can delete your account, and everything it holds, from inside the app.
On your phone
Fourfold keeps your tasks (their titles, lists, order, dates, alarms and whether they are done or sent), your settings, the name you chose to show on tasks you share, and a few notes of its own: when your Premium trial began, whether you have Premium, and a random code for this installation (it tells your devices apart for Sync). The home-screen widget shows your tasks from this same store on the phone.
If your phone backs up its apps (to your Google account on Android, or to iCloud on iPhone), that backup can include Fourfold’s tasks. Backups are your phone’s own, under your control; we cannot see them.
Sync
Sync is off until you turn it on and sign in with Apple or Google. Then Fourfold keeps a copy of your tasks in your account, so they appear on your other devices. Your account holds:
- your tasks, as listed above;
- your account’s ID, and what Apple or Google pass on when you sign in: your email address and, where they give them, your name and profile picture link (Fourfold shows only the email, so you can see which account you are using);
- the date your Premium trial began, and which of your devices is syncing (its random code) and when it last said so.
When you delete a task, its title leaves the account; a small marker (the task’s ID and when it was deleted) stays, so your other devices delete it too.
Sharing a task
When you send a Delegate task by link, Fourfold stores that task’s title and the name you chose to show as “From”, so the person you send it to can open it. Until someone accepts or declines it, anyone holding the link can see that title and name; after that, only you and the one person who took it can. Fourfold also stores whether it was accepted, declined or done, when, and a random ID for each of the two phones. No sign-in is needed: Fourfold uses an anonymous identity behind the scenes.
On Android, if someone installs Fourfold from Google Play through a shared link, Fourfold reads that link’s code once from Google Play (the “install referrer”), so the shared task opens the first time the app does.
A shared task expires and is deleted from the cloud on its own: 90 days after you send it if no one takes it; 30 days after it is ticked off or declined; and a year after it was taken if it is never ticked off. Your phone, or the phone of the person who took it, deletes it the next time either of you opens Fourfold after it has expired. Deleting your account deletes every task you shared from it straight away. The other person’s own copy, on their phone, is theirs and stays.
Premium and purchases
Premium is bought through Google Play or the App Store, which take the payment. We never see your card or bank details. To know whether you have Premium on each of your devices, Fourfold uses RevenueCat, a company that handles in-app purchases for apps. RevenueCat receives an ID for you in Fourfold (the anonymous ID, or your account’s ID once you sign in), your purchase history in Fourfold (which plan, when it began, renewals, when it ends), and what any app’s connection to it carries, such as the kind of phone, the app’s version, and your IP address and store country. Fourfold contacts RevenueCat only once you open the Premium offer, restore a purchase, or sign in to Sync.
The 14-day trial runs inside the app: no card and no store involvement. Its start date is kept on your phone (on iPhone also in its keychain, which outlasts deleting the app) and, once you sign in, in your account.
Calendar, reminders and notifications
If you set a date on a task and allow calendar access, Fourfold adds an all-day event with the task’s title to your phone’s calendar, with an alert if you set an alarm, and moves or removes it when the task changes. That event lives in your calendar, so whatever syncs your calendar (your Google or iCloud account) syncs it too. Fourfold does not read your other events.
On Android, without calendar access, Fourfold reminds you itself with a notification on the phone at the time you chose; with “Alarms & reminders” allowed, it arrives on time. These are made on the phone: Fourfold sends no push notifications and has no server that messages you.
Where it is kept, and who handles it
Synced and shared tasks, and your account, are stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), in the European Union. Purchase records are held by RevenueCat, in the United States. Both act for us, under their own security and data protection terms, and everything Fourfold sends travels encrypted (HTTPS). Apple and Google also handle your sign-in and your payment under their own privacy policies.
How long it is kept
- On your phone: until you delete the task, or the app.
- In your account: until you delete the task (a completed task leaves after 12 months, as in the app), or the account.
- Shared tasks: 90 days after sending if no one takes it; 30 days after it is ticked off or declined; a year after it was taken if it is never ticked off; and at once if you delete your account.
- Purchase records at RevenueCat: while Fourfold uses RevenueCat, unless you ask us to erase them. Google Play and the App Store keep their own records of what you bought.
Your choices and rights
You can turn Sync off at any time (it pauses; your tasks stay on the phone), sign out, or delete your account in Fourfold: Settings, Sync, Delete account. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to erase it, by emailing admin@hicksmoreandharrison.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
Children
Fourfold is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold their data.
Changes
If what Fourfold keeps or sends changes, we will update this page and its date before the change reaches the app.
